English Lyrics to Wild Flower (야생화) by Park Hyo Shin

Wild Flower (야생화) was released in 2014 through Park Hyo Shin’s collaboration with musician and composer Jung Jae Il. Their partnership began when they met in 2010 while serving in the national military service and has taken Park Hyo Shin’s music to another level since.

Songs like Wild FlowerBreath, and Happy Together among others show what happens when Park Hyo Shin’s songwriting meets Jung Jae Il’s composition. JTBC’s special 4-part show “Your Song” – a rare TV appearance for both of them – shows a glimpse into how the pair collaborate through candid interviews and clips of their time together in France.

The following is an original English translation of Park Hyo Shin’s Wild Flower, interpreted first in Korean and then translated into English as naturally as possible.

Translated Lyrics to ‘Wild Flower (야생화)’

2019 Version of Wildflower on JTBC’s “Your Song (너의 노래는)”, Piano by Jung Jae Il

A delicately blossomed,
A lone frost flower,
Into the warm breeze,
Peers out its head.

To the voiceless,
To the nameless,
Days gone by,
The tears flow down.

From hiding in the cold wind,
From resting under a ray of light,
You come to me once more.

Only the good memories,
Only the longing heart,
On the road you walked away from
Are standing still.

As much as will be forgotten,
As much as will be fine,
After holding back the tears through my waverings
I shall bloom again, once more.

Love is a blossoming and withering
flame that burns out.
Lest the rain washes over me,
I close my eyes.

From my youthful and fragile heart,
From my glistening memories,
I call out to you once more.

Only the good memories,
Only the longing heart,
On the road you walked away from
Are standing still.

As much as will be forgotten,
As much as will be fine,
After holding back the tears through my waverings
I shall once more…

As the world dries out
and swallows me whole,
From my fingertips
Every trace of you fades away.

As your hands leave me,
There is nothing I can do that it pains me.

As much as is left to live,
As much as has been despised,
One day when spring brings you back to me,
I shall bloom that day once more.

  1. Hi! Thank you so much for this translation and working on this site! I would love it if you could translate the song The Day (그 날) from the Mr. Sunshine OST by Park Hyo Shin – he co-wrote the music with Jung Jae Il and the lyrics with Kim Ea Na. My sense was that the lyrics are very poetic and have images that are difficult to translate into English, so the existing English translations all sound very awkward. I think a lot of international fans of the song, of PHS, and of the drama would appreciate an accurate and smooth translation. Thank you!

    1. Hi Alex,

Thank you for your comment 🙂 And YES, I’m so glad you mentioned The Day – it’s one of the songs I want to translate as well! It made Mr. Sunshine so much more emotional and artistic, and was the perfect song to express the sorrows of the protagonist Eugene Choi.

Keep your eyes peeled for our translation of The Day on MoinNet! (But we’ll have a few songs from other artists first 😉
